Typical
Here’s what I’ve done today:
Slept until the bells of Dormition Abbey woke me up.
Had breakfast, went to class.
Ate falafel, pita and hummus outside under the grape arbor with friends. Picked a pomegranate for dessert.
Walked to Damascus Gate with some friends, past the best smelling market ever, took an Arab bus to Domari, a gypsy community center that I volunteer at.
Picked some mint to make amazing tea, talked with Amun and Laliya. Normally I’d teach English to a couple little girls and then be their jungle gym/horse for a while, but Ramadan is messing with everything, so we organized and cleaned instead.
Took the bus back in time for supper. There was no pita…My first meal sans pita in quite a while…I was unsure what I should do.
Put off homework as long as possible, and now have plans to do Hebrew homework until I fall asleep.
Tomorrow: Walking up Hebron Road to volunteer with a fantastic organization, Musalaha, come back for lunch, go to Hebrew, and celebrate my birthday by buying lots of snacks in the Old City, and maybe walking the wall around the Old City. You should all visit and we’ll take fantastic pictures!
